As creatives, we love the idea of creating and sharing with the world! We also love the turning our passions into profit so we can live out that motto “love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” However, if we skip the journey of creating a product or service straight to sale, without mapping out our direction, then we’re headed for a rough road ahead. Sometimes we forget that in the age of social media, it can be hard to stand out and speak to your customers, especially when they are seeing all of the things every day.

The Ideal Customer exercise will help you create services and products that provide solutions, builds trust, and helps to identify the needs, fears, hopes, goals, and dreams of your customers. Once you understand, relate, and identify those wants and needs, you can begin to gain clarity of how to tailor your products or services to be the dream solution for your ideal customer.

Meet our Expert: Nic Roc

Nic has been in business for over 10 years. She is a self-taught bad ass, who has worked in graphic design, branding, fabrication design, and her most recent role as Co-Founder of You Belong Here.  Nic’s personal partyware brand, The Roc Shop, has been showcased and highlighted in Martha Stewart magazine, HDTV Magazine, Bon Apetit Magazine, and more! She has an extensive resume working with large corporations, celebrities, and even several sports franchises in design and development of set displays and promotional products. 

She has been interviewed and featured on Business Rockstars TV and podcast, San Diego’s Locale Magazine. In early 2019, Nic sold a line of her Roc Shop products to Anthropologie’s BHLDN; one of her biggest accomplishments to date.  

Nic has a knack for storytelling, bringing people together, and empowering community. She lives in City Heights with her husband and chiweenie, Missy.
