You Belong Here welcomes you to celebrate the celebration of our 5th Birthday Anniversary and the launch of our newest Group Art Showcase, (What Is) Belonging.
On our 5th anniversary, we are thrilled to present the opening night of our newest art showcase, (What Is) Belonging. which revisits the theme of belonging with renewed boldness and courage.
When You Belong Here first opened its doors in November 2018, we set out to create a space that celebrated the beauty of being part of a community with various belief systems, identities, experiences, and cultures. Our inaugural event, "The Art of Belonging," showcased the creative expressions of over 26 diverse artists, each sharing their unique perspective on what belonging meant to them and how they captured it through their art. This exhibition became the foundation of You Belong Here, reaffirming our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all.
In the five years since our inception, our community has collectively faced unprecedented challenges, including a global pandemic, civil rights setbacks, women's rights and health issues, policies impacting the agency of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, senseless conflicts and genocide, natural disasters, and many more events that have tested our sense of belonging. As we approach our 5-year anniversary, we believe it is more important than ever to revisit the theme of belonging, especially in the context of a COVID-era world.
Belonging holds a different meaning for each individual, and we welcome artistic reflections on what it means to our art community in these changing times. You Belong Here invites artists of all skill levels, experiences, and mediums to submit their work for our upcoming showcase, "What IS Belonging." We aim to provide a platform that highlights the diverse stories and perspectives surrounding the theme of belonging, shedding light on the challenges, triumphs, and personal experiences that shape our sense of belonging in today's world.
You Belong Here's 5th birthday and the opening night of our group art showcase will be a celebration of creativity, inclusivity, and community. We hope you can join us in commemorating this special occasion.

This group showcase is being hosted and put together by the community. While we are not charging for the event and all commissions from sales will be donated to a local non-profit, we would appreciate any donation in helping us to keep our doors open for future arts and community events and to help us fund our Artist Residencies in 2024.

You Belong Here is San Diego's first incubator space dedicated to empowering Creative Artists. We provide safe and affordable coworking space, content creation studios, business development tailored to the arts, and vibrant community programming. With a focus on holistic impact, we foster sustainable change in the arts, culture, and well-being sectors advocating collaboration and inclusivity. Our inclusive space promotes social advocacy and partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and public leaders. Together, we create spaces where communities can thrive, challenging systemic barriers and advocating for equity in the arts, education, social enterprise, and advocacy.
