Erasing the Line: Stories from Two Nations

At You Belong Here, it is our mission to honor and uplift the voices and culture within our community. Our latest art exhibition, Erasing The Line, features photography and video work created in and reflective of the US/Mexico border region we call home -- depicting the causes and consequences of migration for survival.

On October 4, 2019, we are hosting a participatory group discussion that coincides with the closing reception for this exhibition, meant to add to the conversation on how San Diegans can help those directly impacted by immigration/border policies.

The discussion will include community leaders, participating artists from the exhibition, and YOU.

Discussion topics include:

  • Using art and photography as a means of documenting injustice and holding government leaders accountable

  • How to act responsibly as an artist covering border issues

  • Resources for taking action and helping those in need

Admission is FREE but we do suggest a donation of $15, if feasible.

  • Proceeds will benefit Al Otro Lado, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides legal services to indigent deportees, migrants, and refugees in Tijuana, Mexico.

Chicano Soul Food will be vending on site! Come hungry for Tacos and great discussions!

  • Food tickets will be available for purchase at the door
